Lamp Drawing is a pendant light made from a dried Martin House gourd. The surface is sanded and carved to remove the outermost layer of skin and reveal the gourd’s woody flesh. Black crayon rubbed on the surface reveals the gestures of carving and sanding an organic form. Through rubbing and carving, the gourd becomes a collection of lines and planes. A drawing of undulating marks that indexes the intimacy of creation.
