Kalimbrrd x John Rhoden, (2024-ongoing), interactive sound performance & installation, duration variable
In response to John Rhoden: Determined to Be, a one-hour performance in which I mark each decade of John Rhoden’s 60-year career, with a 10-minute musical improvisation. Kalimbrrd is an ongoing participatory sound sculpture, in which visitors are invited to play amplified toys and makeshift instruments to sonically reshape the gallery.
In this version, I use sound to time travel through the decades of Rhoden’s artistic career– each decade represented by a selection of his works– and “play” objects that reference those sculptural forms. Performed at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (2024) Museum and The August Wilson Center (2025).
